Is the Samsung Galaxy S II the Best Smartphone on the Market?

Author: The majority of smartphone experts regard the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S II as being the very best smartphone on the market, and the statement has been made so many times that it has almost become a cliché.
To sum up all that is great about this smartphone; it has a superb screen, a lightening fast processor and an excellent camera. In fact everything that it does it does exceedingly well and overall its performance can be described as blazing. Samsung themselves say that the Galaxy S II is the “smartest built smartphone on the market”.
Digging a little deeper, the phone has a dual processor, the display is 4.3 inches with AMOLED plus technology, the rear camera has an 8 megapixel sensor, and it will also record full 1080p HD video. The operating system runs on Gingerbread, with a Samsung TouchWiz user interface overlay.
Physically the handset is 8.5mm thick which makes it the world’s slimmest smartphone, and it weighs in at a featherweight 116 grams. Although the construction is essentially plastic, the build feels to be high quality. There is a physical home key and three touch sensitive buttons; if anything is lacking, then it is a physical camera shutter button.
The handset has four Samsung software hubs. These include a social network hub, a reader’s hub which allows users to integrate eBooks, magazines and newspapers, a games hub which searches and lists games for download, and a music hub which will probably be developed in a similar manner to Apple’s iCloud system.
There are also a few new functions which increase the convenience of using the handset. These include making a call by swiping left on a contact and messaging the contact by swiping right. Turning the phone over puts it into silent mode and there are several additional gesture functions.
